Shoaib Malik to open?
It seems that Shoaib Malik is trying to find a reliable place for him in the test XI. Given the troubles Pakistan has had with the opening position in the lineup, it may not be a bad idea to have Shoaib Malik play at the position. Depending on how Shoaib turns out, it will also give Pakistan more flexibility with their bowling options as well. Perhaps its realizing this that Shoaib is trying to make a case for the one batting position which is not secure in this Pakistani team. I still feel that this position needs to go to two of Taufiq Umar, Imran Farhat or Salman Butt. Two of them really are the long term solution to Pakistan's opening woes. I think the Afridi experiment will have to end sooner or later, as much as I love to watch him play.
