The first day is done. After winning the toss, and securing a winning opening partnership of 80, and with a further second wicket partnership of 81, Pakistan lost the next 3 wickets for 22 runs. Mohammad Yousaf and Hasan Raza fell quiet cheaply for single digits. Both Younis Khan and Kamran Akmal failed to make the best of a good wicket, and were dismissed for 39 and 28.
England showed why they are considered one of the best teams in cricket, playing with discipline and focus, the bowlers acquited themselves well on a fairly docile wicket. Trescothick also didn't let the moment phase him, with some key captaincy decisions, keeping pressure on the Pakistani batsmen.
With Inzamam and Sami at the crease, and Shabbir, Shoaib and Danish to follow, I think Pakistan will be very happy with any score in excess of 300, and will really have overacheived with a score of 350.
