Pakistan has made some interesting choices for the test match in Multan. Shoaib Malik and Salman Butt, as previously announced, have debuted as an opening pair, and are accompanied by Younis Khan, Inzy, Mohammad Yousuf and Hasan Raza as the specialist batsmen. Shabbir Ahmed, Mohammad Sami and Shoaib Akhtar are the pacers, with Danish Kaneria the sole spinner. Kamran Akmal is behind the stumps.
While Hasan Raza deserves a chance, why was Asim Kamal dropped? Giving Hasan Raza a shot is not enough of a reason to drop a guy who has played with grit, integrity and determination in every match he's played, and played well at that. The pacers are fine, the rest of the selection is strong. I guess there really is no room for Shahid Afridi in this test squad though.
