Not to raise any drama, but can the Younis Khan run out at 199 be the source of even worse bad blood between Afridi and Younis Khan?
It was in the West Indies that this first rose as an issue. A disagreement arose between Afridi and Younis, who was captaining the side, over where Afridi would bat. While it was reported that all was well, the incident today could perhaps add to this difficult relationship.
Younis Khan at 199, played the ball to mid-on, and almost immediately called for a run. Afridi began to run, but ran into Kumble and as he collided with him screamed to Younis to stop. Younis, perhaps focused on getting his 200, continued running about 2/3 the way down the pitch, before beginning to run back. A dive, a direct hit from Harbhajan and Younis became the sixth unfortunate batsmen to be dismissed for 199. There wasn't much communication between the two batsmen as Younis walked back, dejected, to the pavilion, when almost certainly Afridi was atleast partially responsible for the unfortunate mix-up.
Afridi then took the game over, and when he reached a 100, Younis Khan was one of the first to rise to his feet, with a huge grin on his face, almost certainly happy for Afridi. Perhaps it really is true, that the two Pathans have buried their hatchet, and this really was a poor accident.
