Shoaib Akhtar - always in the news!

For right and wrong reasons, Shoaib Akhtar continues to remain in the news. First, came the comments by Greg Chappell, reported in the blog earlier, that Shoaib's action may have problems.

Now, the Indian papers are full of comments about how the ICC has warned, appropriately in my opinion, Greg Chappell not to make comments about bowlers' actions. But Sunil Gavaskar, who apart from being a legend is also head of the ICC's technical committee, spoke on ESPN that Akhtar may or may not be called up again, specially if there was a problem. Mohammad Azharuddin, former Indian captain, has also gone on to call Greg Chappell's comments unfair.

All of this comes hot on the heels of Shoaib Akhtar being ruled out of the second one-day match, and after 6 straight tests and 5 ODIs against England, he has become injured again. One can only feel sorry for Shoaib, after a good performance against England, and a strong, but unrewarding, performance against India.
