Poor Pakistan performance, saved by the rain!

Someone should be singing an ode to the rain! After struggling to 201 for 8, the rains came to Pakistan's assistance, and the match was completely washed out.

Pakistan were put into bat after losing the toss. They had selected Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Abdul Razzaq, Shahid Afridi, Naved-ul-Hasan, Rao Iftikhar, and Mohammad Asif. Rao Iftikhar was brought in to replace Shoaib Akhtar, but other than that, the Pakistan batting lineup was atleast deep till No. 8. Yet, they were constrained by an impressively tight Sri Lankan bowling attack, and an almost continuous fall of wickets.

Salman Butt and Shahid Afridi were due for a big performance and still were unable to deliver. Shoaib Malik uncharacteristically failed early, and although all of Yousuf, Inzamam and Younis got starts, none of them were able to convert to a large total. Pakistan must look towards a stronger and more consistent performance in the upcoming matches.
