An ode to Pakistan's 2006 performance

How can you not be a fan of Osman Samiuddin. One has to enjoy this review of Pakistan's performance over 2006, with the self-confidence and almost-cocky attitude typified by the best periods and players in Pakistani cricket. He makes some interesting points and has some key insights into the problems facing Pakistani cricket over the upcoming year.

While he raises fielding as a key concern over the upcoming year, I would contend that fielding never really ahs been a strong suit of the Pakistani squad, while in fact their best periods have been typified by flashy, yet resolute batting, and aggressive, almost arrogant bowling. All of this has been placed within an attitude that if there is a chance of victory, somehow the squad will cease it from the very jaws of defeat, and give them a chance to lose, unfortunately they will find a way to do it. Perhaps what this squad is in desperate need of, is the confidence and belief in themselves which they have shown glimpses of over the past year or so. Perhaps what they need is not a fielding coach, but a real psychologist, or perhaps a kick in the ass from Miandad!
