Imran Khan backs ECB stance
Imran Khan supports ECB skipping Karachi as a test venue. In an interview with the AFP, Imran supported the decision of the ECB to refuse to play a test in Karachi citing the recent history of violence in Karachi. Further, Imran also felt that the PCB was justified in giving in on this issue, as pressure on the ECB might end up jeopardizing the entire tour. Lost in all of this perhaps, is Imran's current status as a politician, and a member of the opposition in Pakistan. To bring up issues of violence in Karachi and safety for tourists, Imran gets to take a sideways swipe at the Pakistani government, as it is the government people will blame for the ECB missing Pakistan's largest city. Not to say Karachi is the safest city on the planet, but one hopes that Imran' statements are based on rational facts, as opposed to a covert political agenda.
