Interesting news coming out of the PCB Camp. It appears that Pakistan will be dropping Mohammad Sami, Asim Kamal and even Arshad Khan from their squad heading to Sri Lanka. Abdur Rahman, a left arm spinner, and Tahir Khan, an off-spinning all-rounder, have been included in the squad.
Mohammad Sami's inconsistency has perhaps been rightly assessed, but Umar Gul, Rana Naved, Mohammad Asif and Rao Iftikhar will really have to step up, as their lack of experience will present problems for Pakistan. The potential non-selection of Asim Kamal still bothers me. He is consistent, his wicket is not given away easily and above all he is a sturdy addition to the middle order. Faisal Iqbal and Imran Farhat may be more flashy, but they are far too inconsistent and lack perhaps the mental resolve of Asim. Only time will tell.
