Bob Woolmer anticipating trouble in South Africa

I wasn't expecting this level of forthrightness from Bob Woolmer, on the eve of the tour to South Africa. Quote: "Our batting, however, will have to cope with the pitches in South Africa and that will be a major task".

One must give kudos to him for being so blunt and forthcoming in a newspaper interview, but this does make one wonder. If a South African coach cannot train the Pakistani squad to be able to deal with South African wickets, then what is the point of having such a high level professional coach? All in all, one could blame the Pakistani players, but I have been disappointed by the inability of Bob Woolmer to address any significant issue with the Pakistani squad over his term. Whether it be the opening issue, or the inability of the side to improve their fielding in any significant way, or even the penchant our batsmen have for chasing or probably wafting balls down the off stump, Bob Woolmer has been unable to coach through this. And now, he is coming right out and saying that he is unable to train the boys to be able to handle South African wickets.

However the next six months go, I think Woolmer's term in Pakistan is pretty much done.
